Factors of psychosocial burden of covid-19
Abstract
Introduction: The emergence of infectious viral diseases, such as the Covid-19 pandemic, often affects the mental
health of population groups. Aim: The aim of this study is to review and compile the existing literature, which lists
the factors of psychosocial burden in population, during the covid-19 pandemic. Methodology: This is a review of
the published literature. Bibliographic search of scientific articles in the electronic databases Medline (PubMed) and
Scopus from January 2020 to August 2021. The criteria for inclusion of an article in the study were: The language of
publication of the article should be English, it should be completely relevant to the subject of the study, it should be
a research study, it should be published in a valid scientific journal, and it should be published from January 2020 and
after. Results: The factors associated with the psychosocial burden of population, during the Covid-19 pandemic are
individual characteristics such as: age, gender, marital status, education, occupation, place of residence, as well as fear
and uncertainty, anxiety and depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), domestic violence, alcohol, financial
factors, change of daily activities, coping, exposure on social media of the covid-19, chronic organic and mental illness,
and psychosocial support. Conclusions: Factors that burden mental health of individuals, during a pandemic can be
valuable information for health policy making as well as for planning appropriate nursing interventions and actions
