Assessment of Peripheral Neuropathy
Abstract
The chemotherapy induced neurotoxicity is a major side effect which affects the patient physically and functionally and worsens the quality of life. Neurotoxicity should be early recognized and in this area the contribution of nurses is very important. For this reason, the evaluation of the nervous system must be integrated into the clinical nursing practice. Apart from the evaluation of somatic symptoms (objective and subjective), must be evaluated the effects of specific adverse effects on quality of life of patients, in order to implement targeted interventions that will lead to the reduction of the intensity of symptoms, prevent deterioration and relieve the patient.
