Quality of Life Assessment in Children with Asthma

Asthma is a chronic disease increased prevalence with during the last decades and its study is complex and toilful. It’s a multisymptomatic and multifactorial disease with a various therapeutic approach depending on severity. Emphassis has been shown in assessment of quality of life in children in relevance to treatment or prognosis of asthma. The description of the main available instruments used worldwidely for the assessment of quality of life in children with asthma. A thorough literature review and critical analysys of articles published mainly during the last decade approaching the theme into national and international medical and nursing databases. The assessment of quality of life in asthmatic children is now recognised as “cornestone” for the evaluation of clinical practice and asthma effects. A number of instruments were described as well as the basic principles for development of new. It is acknowledged that each instrument has its advantages and disadvantages. Especially for asthmatic children, the use of these instruments is recognised as important since current therapeutics focus on the maintenance of high quality of life.
